Created for high school students, these three-week intensives explore the design process and technical demands for all live production. Costume and scenic design and construction, lighting design and electrics, sound design and programming, prop design and craftsmanship, and all components of backstage demands will be seamlessly incorporated.
From initial concepts to installation, rehearsal and performance, students experience all transitions of the creative process in our theatre, musical theatre, dance and circus programs. While working alongside professional designers and technicians, students gain practical experience while developing creative problem solving, technical proficiency and leadership skills as they grow their own artistic voice and technical expertise.
Whether pursuing stagecraft, fashion, architecture, themed entertainment and installation art, this intensive offers a comprehensive understanding of collaborative storytelling and a broader experience for a career in theatre arts.
The Production Design Intensive is offered via two three-week programs. Production work is not repeated within each three-week session.
Ages: Grades 10–12

Designed for high school students passionate about theatrical design and production, this immersive three-week intensive explores the collaborative artistry that brings stories to life on stage.
Students receive hands-on training in scenic design, scenic construction, props design and fabrication, sound design, lighting, and production technology while working alongside professional designers and technicians. From initial concepts and drafting to fabrication, installation, and live production, participants experience every phase of the creative process.
Working directly with the Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Circus programs, students become integral members of the production team, gaining real-world experience in creating immersive theatrical environments while developing their own artistic voice and technical expertise.
Whether pursuing theatre design, technical direction, entertainment technology, architecture, or themed entertainment, students leave with practical experience, portfolio-worthy projects, and a deeper understanding of collaborative storytelling.

Participation in this program requires a brief interview and submission of supporting materials.
