Perry-Mansfield's Conservation Easement Initiative

Perry-Mansfield is a historic, deeply meaningful place that has nurtured artists and young people for over 100 years. The organization is working to permanently protect the land through a conservation easement, ensuring it remains undeveloped and continues its mission for future generations. To do this, they need to raise $150,000 quickly for legal and conservation costs. Donations now can be significantly amplified through tax benefits, helping build a long-term endowment to sustain both the land and its programs. The effort is positioned as a rare opportunity for the community to preserve a lasting legacy.

Vision

“Perry-Mansfield changed my life.” The organization has a 100+ year history of transforming lives by nurturing creativity, fostering self-expression, and building lifelong skills in young artists. Settled into the natural beauty of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the camp offers a unique blend of rigorous artistic training and a supportive community. Here, students immerse themselves in disciplines such as dance, theater, arts and equestrian program, guided by some of the most respected professionals in the industry. This enriching environment not only hones their craft but also instills confidence, discipline, and resilience. Alumni often credit Perry-Mansfield with igniting their passion for the arts and shaping their personal and professional trajectories, creating a lasting impact that extends far beyond the summer.

By donating, you help sustain and expand a diverse array of offerings – from dance, theater, and visual arts to equestrian programs and beyond. Join the Helen Smith Society

There was never a hair out of place on Helen Smith, from her white gloves to her pillbox hats. She met Charlotte Perry at Smith College. She and Charlotte were best friends. She was the only one who could help Charlotte and Portia see the other person’s side and made all people feel important and heard. Her ability to moderate situations became a critical element in helping camp run smoothly. She was the dash between Portia and Charlotte, the glue that held camp together.

The Helen Smith Society honors her legacy by naming our monthly giving society in her name. This recognizes that monthly givers are the “glue” that ensures the ongoing success of Perry-Mansfield.

Donors who choose to support Perry-Mansfield with a monthly contribution receive certain benefits based on their monthly giving level.
