SUPPLEMENT TUITION WITH A JOB
Work-Study is awarded to students in the Pre-Professional program only, based on financial need. Positions available for the summer are Studio Host, Dining Hall Attendant, Camp Beautification and Equestrian Wrangler.
Work-Study students are an asset to Perry-Mansfield and are greatly appreciated. Students are assigned a job, which they maintain throughout their camp session. Each job is taken very seriously, as work-study students play a significant role in the daily functioning of the camp. Work-Study students are supervised and expected to carry out job requirements responsibly and appropriately. You should not apply for Work-Study if you feel that you may not be able to meet these expectations. The following positions are available:
STUDIO HOUSEKEEPER
Studio Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning an assigned dance studio on a daily basis. Responsibilities include mopping and sweeping floors, washing windows, picking up garbage and overall up-keep of the studio. Studio Housekeepers will receive $500 off the cost of tuition as compensation for this position. There are seven Studio Housekeeper positions available.
DINING HALL ATTENDANT
Dining Hall Attendants are responsible for the preparation of meals and/or cleanup of the Main Lodge (dining hall) before and after meals. Dining Hall Attendants will receive $500 off the cost of tuition as compensation for this position. There are five Main Lodge Attendant positions available.
CAMP BEAUTIFICATION
Camp Beautifiers are responsible for collecting trash throughout the campgrounds. This includes picking up litter around campus and collecting trash from designated buildings. Camp Beautifiers will receive $500 off the cost of tuition as compensation for this position. There is one Camp Beautification position available.
EQUESTRIAN WRANGLER
The Equestrian Wrangler positions will be filled strictly with students having a background in equitation. Equestrian Wranglers will assist with feeding horses, moving hay, helping with barn maintenance, etc. Equestrian Wranglers will receive $500 off the cost of tuition. There are two Equestrian Wrangler positions available.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants interested in participating in the work-study program must submit a one-page essay and one additional recommendation letter from a former employer to the camp office by March 15th. The essay must include the following:
- Position for which you are applying
- Reason for interest in the work-study program
- Assets you bring to the work-study program
- Examples of your ability to keep a commitment and follow through with job expectations
Recommendation letters must come from employers, organizations for which you have volunteered, or others who may attest to your work ethic. Recommendation letters may not come from family members or friends.
Work-Study is awarded based on need. Applicants will be notified of their status by mail or phone by March 30th.
