Perry-Mansfield has a long and proud tradition of providing equestrian instruction. Our camp was the first to offer English riding instruction in the western United States. A genuine desire to share quality instruction in a rustic mountain setting is the legacy that is carried on in each of our camp sessions.
Perry-Mansfield's Equestrian program continues to enrich summer students and provide them with quality instruction, taught in conjunction with horse care skills such as grooming, feeding and horse health. Trail rides on the surrounding mountainsides enhance the experience. Our wonderful school horses are all picked for their suitability to children, and students are encouraged to take responsibility for the care and maintenance of their favorite horses, developing the special relationship necessary to excel in the sport and art of equestrian disciplines.
The equestrian camps have a pre-set curriculum appropriate for each ability level. In the case of inclement weather, we will substitute other camp activities for riding. Students participating in the June session may enjoy on-campus trail riding only, due to potentially wet mountain trail conditions.
These sessions are Day Camps (no residential/overnight students ) beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. Lunch is provided. No experience is necessary. Students will participate in daily lessons and trail rides.
