Mike Smith

Michael received a Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre from Skidmore College, where he graduated with honors  in 1999.  In 2001 he became the Director of Theatre Arts at North Lawndale College Prep. Charter School (NLCP) in Chicago.  There he taught several Theatre, Public Speaking and College Prep courses between the years of 2001 and 2007.  He also directed several school plays during his time at NLCP.  In 2007, Michael left NLCP to join the Educational Services Team at the Rush NeuroBehavioral Center (RNBC) located in Skokie.  For the past 10 years, Mike has worked at RNBC as an Education Specialist and, along with his colleagues, continues to research, develop and present RNBC’s Executive Functions Curriculum to schools throughout the Chicagoland area.  He is also an experienced Executive Function tutor and has helped hundreds of students (ranging from 4th grade to college) with their organizational, time management and study skills. He is also the current Director of Education at The House Theatre of Chicago, where he has developed several arts based programs for teens and young artists in Chicago. Mike is also an actor and has remained an active performer in Chicago’s vibrant Off-Loop Theatre Scene for almost two decades!  Over the years, Mike has performed in several awarding winning and critically acclaimed productions with the House.
